Leanne Rinelli (MFA, 200 hour RYT, comprehensive Pilates certification) has been teaching multiple movement modalities for over 20 years. She has been on the Dance Faculty at Buffalo State University, the University of Texas at El Paso, and currently at the University of Tampa. She has taught ballet and modern dance in various dance studios, and has been a guest artist with the University at Buffalo, the University of the South, Idaho State University, and Brenau University. Leanne has performed with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company II (Dayton, OH), Janet Reed and Dancers (Buffalo, NY), the Bill Evans Dance Company (Rochester, NY), KDiehl Danceworks (Rochester, NY), and STEAMROLLER Dance (San Francisco). Leanne's choreography has been seen internationally in Guatemala, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Croatia, and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.
Leanne values the unique ways in which individuals choose to express themselves through movement. Her research in somatic movement and dance is driven by the principle that moving our bodies creates positive changes in our attitudes towards ourselves and those around us. Her explorations on creating community through movement have been presented at the International Somatic Dance Conference, the National Dance Education Organization Conference, and the Anne Frank Project Social Justice Festival.
"Leanne is a consummate and meticulous dance artist. As an educator and performer, Leanne's compelling attention to detail and commitment to her students is inspiring. She is truly exceptional and a memorable colleague I routinely seek out."
"Leanne is the most well rounded instructor I've ever had...She is able to hone in on each student's strengths and weaknesses and find their unique path to success."
"Leanne helped shape not only my contemporary dance technique but also shaped who I am as a person and artist. Her knowledge and encouragement helped me get where I am now...You will be changed for the better."
"...Leanne showed me that dance wasn't just about technique...It was about taking that technique and making it a part of yourself; using that technique to tell your story...Leanne knows how to connect you with your body in a way I hadn't known in a studio before."
"Because of my experiences in Leanne's classes, I did not give up; I did not feel intimidated or uncomfortable...[Leanne is] able to make women of all shapes and sizes in her classes feel so very successful. Not only did she make me feel inspired and at ease as I struggled with moving my body in new ways and using unused muscles, but Leanne is truly a good teacher."
